What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file or similar item stored on a computer, smartphone, tablet or other device when you visit a website. Cookies can help a site remember preferences, maintain a secure session, understand how pages are used or support other website functions.
Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels, SDKs, tags and other tools that store information on a device or access information already stored there.
Types of cookies KE-Visa may use
Security and core functionality
Used for features that are essential to provide a requested service, such as security, session management, load balancing or remembering a cookie choice.
Remembering user choices
May remember language, display or other non-essential settings so the site behaves consistently on a later visit.
Understanding site usage
May measure visits, navigation patterns, page performance and aggregated usage to help improve website content and usability.
Advertising and attribution
May be used to measure campaigns, limit repeated ads or support advertising. These should not be activated before valid consent where consent is legally required.
How cookie consent should work
For non-essential cookies and similar technologies, consent should be based on a clear and informed choice. Merely continuing to browse should not be treated as consent where opt-in consent is required.
- Non-essential cookies should remain disabled until the visitor has made a valid choice.
- “Accept” and “Reject” options should be clearly available without unnecessary friction.
- Consent should be specific enough to distinguish different purposes where appropriate.
- Visitors should be able to reopen cookie settings and change their choice later.
- A consent record may be stored so the site remembers the visitor's preference.
Current cookie inventory
The table below is a publication template. Replace example or generic descriptions with the exact cookies found by your live-site cookie scanner before deployment.
| Category | Typical purpose | Consent | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Security, session integrity, form continuity, load balancing, or remembering cookie preferences. | Usually not required when strictly necessary to deliver a user-requested service. | Session or limited persistent duration, depending on function. |
| Preferences | Remember language, interface or site preference choices. | May require consent depending on purpose and applicable law. | Should be limited to a reasonable period. |
| Analytics | Measure traffic, page views, navigation and website performance. | Consent generally required unless a specific legal exemption applies. | Depends on the analytics service configuration. |
| Marketing | Advertising attribution, audience measurement or behavioural advertising. | Consent required where applicable. | Depends on advertising provider and configuration. |
Third-party cookies and services
Some website functions may be supplied by third parties, for example analytics, payment, security, video, maps, chat, or embedded-content providers. These providers may place or read cookies or similar technologies when their services are loaded.
The existing KE-Visa cookie page names Google Analytics as an example of a third-party analytics provider. If Google Analytics remains active on the current site, it should only load in jurisdictions requiring consent after the appropriate analytics consent has been obtained.
How to manage or disable cookies
You can control cookies through the KE-Visa cookie-consent interface, where available, and through your browser or device settings. Blocking all cookies can affect features that depend on essential session or preference storage.
- Use the website's cookie settings to accept or reject non-essential categories.
- Delete previously stored cookies through your browser privacy controls.
- Block third-party cookies if your browser provides that option.
- Use private-browsing or tracking-protection features when appropriate.
- Revisit your consent choice whenever you want to change it.
Cookies used with forms and application services
KE-Visa application and contact forms may require limited technical storage for security, session continuity, fraud prevention, form state or submission reliability. These technical functions should be limited to what is necessary for the user-requested service.
Personal information entered into an application form is governed by the site's privacy notice and applicable terms, not merely by this cookie policy.
How long cookies should be kept
Cookie retention should be appropriate to the purpose. Session cookies normally expire when the browser session ends, while persistent cookies may remain for a defined period. Consent and preference cookies should be reviewed periodically rather than kept indefinitely without justification.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
KE-Visa may update this policy when website technologies, service providers, legal requirements or consent mechanisms change. The “Last updated” date should be revised whenever a material change is published.
